Secret Speyside Single Malt 11 Year Old 2011 Thompson Bros 48.5% ABV A wonderful single malt release from our friends and independent bottlers the Thompson Bros. This is a larger batch than usual, comprising two refill sherry butts that were filled with new-make back in 2011. The Speyside expression keeps lots of grist and distillate character in with the gentle sherry notes. Non-chill filtered and bottled at natural colour, this whisky pairs perfectly with great conversation and even greater friends. Tasting note: Nose: Barley sugar and lime cordial come through first, followed by nutty sherry notes, grapefruit peels, and a surprise umami base. Palate: More barley notes alongside freshly baked pastries, sultanas, mace, a subtle gamey meat note, and wine gums. Finish: A touch of spice lingers on.
